Baccarat is one of the most simple of all casino card games, and yet is one that is not as widely understood and played throughout the world.

Baccarat can be played at online casinos, or played in real brick and mortar casinos. In either case, you will be playing with six full packs of cards of the same pattern, which are all shuffled together. When you play Baccarat at an online casino it is slightly different, but when you play at a brick and mortar casino, the players seat themselves round the table. In the center of the table is a basket in which to place the discarded cards.

When playing Baccarat at an online casino, it is different but at a real brick and mortar casino, if there is any question regarding the relative positions of the players, lots are drawn to decide. In this case, the person drawing the first place seats himself to the right hand of the croupier, and the rest follow in succession. To begin playing the game of Baccarat, the croupier shuffles the cards, and then passes them on.

At this point when playing Baccarat in a land based casino, the croupier places the cards in front of himself, and hands some to the player on his right, who for the time being is dealer, or “banker.” The other players are called punters. Any punter, beginning with the player sitting to the immediate right of the dealer, has the right to say “Banco”, meaning to “go bank,” and thus to play against the whole of the banker’s stake. If no one does so, each Baccarat player places his stake in front of himself.
